    Edge Technology ME-ED-44-000 feature

Model Engineers Workshop” describes how our Edge Technology Indicator holder is used to fix a DTI onto a mill. Peter shares his smart solution for the difficulty of finding a solid fixing point for a DTI on his Alpine mill. He found a spare 3/8” chuck and 3/8” internal thread in his collection and set about fitting the z axis sender mounting, leaving approximately 30mm studding extra. He then proceed to merely turning down a piece of 12x1.75mm studding. A 3/8” x 24 thread was cut on opposite side of the chuck and they joined together with a 12mm extension nut. This solution allowed him to clamp a range of bracket fittings in addition to this initial purpose. You can view our Edge Technology Indicator Holder with 3/8" Shank Mount here https://www.machine-dro.co.uk/edge-tech-indicator-holder-with-shank-mount .

    Wixey WR360 feature

The Wixey WR360 digital angle gauge has been featured in “Model Engineers Workshop” for an interesting application. The article consists of Howard Lewis’ use of the digital angle gauge as an aid to sharpen drills. He began by using a clamp to set it parallel to the face of the grinding wheel. The aluminium is then milled to a rectangular block, set at 59 degrees with the assistance of the WR360. Once a tip angle of 118 degrees is positioned, the vice is tilted up at 45 degrees for a 90 degree vee to be cut by the end mill. This is just one useful example of how our Wixey digital angle gauge can be used to execute a task comfortably with precision. Allendale 'Pub' Lockdown Quiz

In an effort to keep spirits high in this challenging time, we organised a pub style quiz for all of our staff. Using video chat network Zoom, this was a great opportunity to catch up and have some fun. There’s nothing like a bit of healthy competition to put a smile on everyone’s faces! One colleague went the extra mile to really add the pub feel by using a greenscreen background. Our testing quiz consisted of 6 rounds – General knowledge, Geography & International, Science & Nature, Film & TV, Sport and a Picture round. We had some surprisingly good answers on a question about Kim Kardashian and some not so good for the name of The Grinch’s dog. David Ingham closely guessed the length of the M1, making him the winner of the tie breaker and the first Allendale Lockdown Quiz. Organising fun events like these are a great way to stay in touch with friends and colleague under the difficult circumstances. I’m sure we will have a round 2 very soon!

Single Phase XL Ultrasonic Cleaners – Now Available

Have you ever considered purchasing one of our industrial grade extra-large Ultrasonic Cleaners, but the 3-phase power source is proving an issue?

We have a solution – we now have availability on single-phase extra-large Ultrasonic Cleaners, which will still heat the circuits just like a 3-phase power source would do. If this is of interest, we have capacities of 57 Litres, 90 Litres and 99 Litres in single-phase options.

These new single-phase XL Ultrasonic Tanks use a 16A 3-pin plug which can be wired into most single-phase domestic and light commercial premises where 3-phase wiring isn’t present, resulting in identical performance and operation to the 3-phase variants. As well as matching performance, this can also be a more cost-effective and straight-forward option, compared to running new

Cleaning an Electrical Terminal in an Ultrasonic Cleaner

A customer of ours purchased some replacement brushes for a Bosch Jigsaw online, however, when they arrived from China, the push on spade terminals was heavily rusted. Instead of receiving a refund, he decided to put our Ultrasonic Cleaner paired with our Oxidation Cleaning Fluid to the test and tried to remove the rust himself.

Being only 3mm wide and 8mm long, the usual abrasive tools wire brushes and emery paper were impractical to use, so our customer placed them inside a beaker in our 3 litre Ultrasonic Cleaner. He also added 10% of

Cleaning a Marine Engine Piston in an Ultrasonic Cleaner – Before & After

We set up and ran a cleaning cycle on a very dirty Marine Engine Piston, which was sent in by a customer. They wanted to see how effective the cleaning results would be by using our Carburettor cleaning fluid, in one of our XL Ultrasonic Cleaners.

We conducted a test and monitored the cleaning results every 10 minutes. The final result after 50 minutes cleaning was very promising and the before and after images speak for themselves. The picture shows that the built-up carbon, grease and dirty contaminants have been removed on the most part, allowing our customer to complete the inspection and rebuild saving valuable time.

With this information, our customer was happy to proceed in purchasing a 288L tank and Carburettor cleaning fluid, knowing it would speed up and enhance their engine rebuilding service.

For more information or to take part in a cleaning test, please contact our Technical Product Specialist on 01992 455925 or visit our website
